18 FRIENDS FIND 6.2 MILLION REASONS TO CELEBRATE

Moncton (NB) – Good news travels fast in Havelock, New Brunswick. Especially when there are 18 people sharing the same piece of good news. Just two weeks after a group of 20 LOTTO MAX winners stopped by the Moncton Atlantic Lottery office, another big group, this time a group of 18 LOTTO 649 winners, stepped forward to claim a top-prize cheque worth more than $6.2 million.
The results of the October 24 LOTTO 649 draw were certainly a cause for celebration for nine Department of Transportation co-workers and their wives. The group purchased their tickets for the draw the day before, after thinking, “$13 million – that wouldn’t be bad.” And they were right. Even though their top prize win was shared with another lucky ticket holder in Quebec, today, they’re feeling anything but bad.
“It was pretty exciting to tell everyone that we had won the lottery,” said Bryan Duncan, who was both the buyer and checker of the group’s winning ticket. “There was a lot of jumping and hollering here on Monday when I got back to the office and spread the word.”
The group, who’ve been playing the lottery together for just over a year, is gearing up for busy season, when their snowplows will hit the road. But it seems as though we won’t need to worry about not having anybody to drive the plows: Duncan says that the group have no plans for retirement.
The group of 18 had spent $18 dollars on tickets for the October 24 draw. But even as newly minted jackpot winners, they’re still going to keep testing their luck each week. “We’re already paid up for this week,” Duncan was quick to mention.
Charlie’s Corner Store in Havelock, NB will receive a 1% seller’s prize for selling the group of 18 their winning ticket.
