LOTTO MAX MAKES 20 NEW FRIENDS IN RIVERVIEW, NEW BRUNSWICK
October 14, 2009
Moncton (NB) – “We’ll give it a few months…see if this new game is for us.” And with a ticket worth $240,483.50 in their hands, well, it’s fair to say that the game has proven to be ‘for them.’ LOTTO MAX’s ‘lucky 20,’ a group of 20 friends from the Greater Moncton area, have laid claim to the new national game’s first big win and are all in agreement that the game’s made a MAXimum first impression.

The group of 20 co-workers and friends flooded the Atlantic Lottery offices on Wednesday, October 14 to take home their piece of the LOTTO MAX pie. The ‘lucky 20’ had been playing LOTTO Super 7 as a group for years. “When Super 7 ended, we left it up to Joanne to decide if we’d give LOTTO MAX a try,” said Gabriel Savoie, one of the group’s big winners. “We’re definitely glad she chose to keep our Friday night group play going.”

Joanne Lewis, who has purchased the group’s tickets every week for years, was never one to carry a lucky charm…until now. The day after she discovered the group’s big win, a neighbour gave her a four-leaf clover. So who knows, we may hear from her and the other 19 again in the future. “I hadn’t checked our tickets because we never really win anything big. But Edgar, one of the winners, told me he had a vibe that we were going to win big that week…and he was right,” beamed Joanne.

This second prize win was the first big prize since LOTTO MAX’s launch in September and Atlantic Canada is certainly reaping the rewards of the game. Canadians have yet to see a top prize win, but the game has produced two second prize wins – both of which were in Atlantic Canada. Adding to the day’s excitement, father and son duo Lawrence and Dennis Totton from Saint John, NB also stopped by the Atlantic Lottery offices on Wednesday to claim their second prize win of $275,176 from last Friday’s LOTTO MAX draw.

Canadian Tire Gas Bar in Riverview, New Brunswick will receive a 1% seller’s prize for selling the ‘lucky 20’ their winning ticket. Sun-Ray Variety will receive a 1% seller’s prize for selling the Totton’s their winning ticket.
