ATLANTA – A quality control worker in the textile industry has weaved a quarter-million dollar lottery win. Thomas Cherry of Macon is one of three players each to win a second prize of $250,000 from matching the first five winning numbers in the Aug. 21 Mega Millions drawing.
Cherry, 44, said he has no immediate plans for his lottery win.
He purchased his winning Quik Pik ticket at Arkwright Road Chevron, 3720 Riverside Drive in Macon. Winning numbers from the Aug. 21 Mega Millions drawing were: 9-38-44-48-49 and the Mega Ball was 13. Other second prize tickets were sold in Centerville and Savannah.
"I checked and double checked the numbers online," he said, referring to the Georgia Lottery's Web site. "I just smiled."
