COLLEGE STUDENT WINS TOP PRIZE IN “$250K HIGH ROLLER” GAME
April 3, 2009
Here is one reason you should always do things for your mother. Ryan McCoy of Manassas went to the store to pick something up for his mom. Since he knows she likes to play Scratcher games, he also bought some Virginia Lottery tickets. When he got home, he split them among family members, including himself. It turns out that his ticket in the $250K High Roller Scratcher game was a top-prize winner.
That was in December. He held on to the winning ticket while he put his financial affairs in order – and finally, on March 31, he claimed his $250,000 prize.
It’s no surprise that Mr. McCoy took the time to make financial preparations. After all, he is studying business administration at Northern Virginia Community College. The 20-year-old told Virginia Lottery officials he plans to invest his winnings and hopes to start his own business someday.
He bought the winning ticket at Bloom, located at 6306 Hoadly Road in Manassas. His ticket is the second to win the $250,000 prize in this game, which means there is one top-prize-winning ticket yet to be claimed.
